Long time, no blog. It has been a busy one around here. I started training for another half marathon, revamped the craft room including new cabinets and storage solutions (photos this month - I swear), been playing with my new iPhone, and you can't forget about the job. Well, that is my month in a nutshell.

Now onto a craty project -- I finally got a chance to play in the craftroom (as opposed to organizing) and made a masculine card using the Basic Grey/Hero Arts Paper and Stamps. I stamped the ticket on patterned paper and vanilla, fussy cut the tickets, layered them, and then popped the top ticket up using foam tape. This card is so me - bright, fun, and a clean and simple design.

I also do need to share these fun photos I took with my phone this morning. Yes, it is April 18th and it snowed and stuck to the ground. Where is Spring?

A Denim Reject

The Sept/Oct submission has closed at Papercrafts Magazine. I did have 1 card accepted - YEA!!!!!! I always thought it would bother me that I would have rejected cards, but it really doesn't. Strange (I know) but I figured that those rejected cards are cards that I really like, and I those cards will make happy mail in their lifetime. Only 8.6% of cards submitted for this issue were accepted. I am part of that small percentage, and that makes me happy :) What also makes me happy is that Amber is having a Reject Blog hop, which makes the idea of being a reject fun! So add your reject and join the fun.

Here is a card that was inspired by one of the sketches. I love everything about this card, got to reuse some old denim jeans, and have a baby card that is ready to go!

It is reject week here on the ole blog. Here is another card that didn't make the cut for the last Go To Sketches publication call. I made this card using sketch 65 to create this card. I used butterfly masks and mists to create the background. I wanted to add a little contrast so I finished off the card with woodgrain letter stickers.

I created this card using Sketch 65 from the latest Go To Sketches publications call. Alas it was rejected, but I figured I would submit it for the Paper Pieced challenge over at the Moxie Fab blog. The rose and leaves were stamped on patterned paper, cut out and layered. I really liked this card, but some cards just don't make the cut :)

HB Woodgrain

This is my last post for my Moxie Fab Week. The Getting Daring with Decorative Tape Challenge on the Moxie Fab Blog, is ending on March 7th, so I thought I would give it a go one more time. This time I used strips of washi tape to create a border on my card in place of patterned paper. I wanted to ruffle the fabric tape, but let's face it ruffles are not very masculine. Instead of ruffles I added wrinkles to the fabric tape to keep it masculine, but still add a little bit of texture. I added a little patterned paper and some corrugated letters by Jillibean Soup that I misted with brown and bronze mists. This was a very quick card - very easy, but I think it a fun masculine card.

Moxie Fab Week continues this week with a card I created for the Stamping with Markers challenge as part of Stamp It! Techniques week on the Moxie Fab Blog. For this challenge I colored my stamped image with some copic markers - it is so fun to shade with these suckers :-) I chose my color scheme for my a-la-modes stamp from My Favorite things by using the fabulous colors in the Pasta Fagioli collection by Jillibean Soup. I really love this collection. I bought the paper for vacation pages, but I just can't help but use it on this punny cards. This stuff is just too cute to hoard (I know it is so rare for me to say that).

This card was created for the Stamp It! Techniques Paper Piecing Challenge. I stamped the rose on some Indie Girl paper by Sassafras and leaves on Jillibean Soup paper. I cut out the roses and leaves, shaded them with copics, layered them, attached the flowers to the card front, and finally added some random glitter (which didn't photograph that well). Glitter makes everything better!!!!

As I have said before I love Moxie Fab Blog Challenges - Cath is the hostess with the mostess!

One of the many challenges going on for technique week is Stamping with Shimmer Sprays. For this challenge I used mists in two ways: 1) misting ribbon, 2) misting an embossed image.

To create the main image I embossed the bicylce in white on patterned paper. I sprayed blue mist on the bike and then wiped it off to make sure the white really shows through, which adds a fun spotlight to the bike. I wanted to draw a little more attention to the bike so I used liquid pearls and green glitter to the flowers in the basket.

Birthday Wishes with Tape

It has been a whirlwind since my last post. I have been so busy at work I didn't even have time to post some fun (and dare I say cute) cards that I made over Marisa's last weekend. I absolutely love the challenges over at the Moxie Fab blog. One of the challenges is Getting Daring with Decorative Tape, and since I love washi tapes I had to play along. I created three flowers of different sizes, blinged them out with some rhinestone brads that I have been hoarding (I can't help it they are just so pretty) and layered them on the scrolled die-cut background. I mixed up my tapes by using 1 fabric and two of the different patterns of washi tape.

Paper Makeup Stamps is turning 2 years old! And to celebrate the occasion, they are having a super fun VIP blog hop with the theme "the things we love". Since the theme is things we love, I just had to use the Oo La La Corset set. Before your mind goes in the gutter...I should tell you the thing I love is puns! I made this v-day card using a new hero arts stamp. I love it. It is a cling stamp set with a typewriter and some fun sentiments. I used a red lace doily heart for the back ground, added a little twine, and popped the typewriter up. This is one of my favorite color combos. I decided to finish the inside as well.

I have some really fun news...I am a winner of the Bold and Bright Challenge for the Color Inspiration for Card Makers over at the Moxie Fab Blog. YEAH ME!

The Same But Different

I created these two cards using Borders and Corners from Schlosser Designs. It is so versatile. On one card I paired it with a Sassafras Felty to make a cute boy baby card and I used it to make a more elegant b-day/congrats card using the same scalloped circle image.

The baby card was super easy because the circle fits right inside the 1 3/4 inch circle punch. This was probably a 10 minute card - no lie! For the classier card I stamped the circle in a row and cut the row out. I adhered it to the card by stitching it down and then I repeated and layered to create offset scallops.

I can't remember the last time I actually had time to participate in a PTI blog hop. Finally things are getting to a normal speed at work and home, and I have had a little time to create. The pet sympathy stamps was one of the first stamps I had bought from PTI and I have only used it once (about 1 month after I bought it). This months hop is to use a never inked or a stamp set that has been collecting a little dust. This is one of those dusty stamps, so I decided to ink it up so I had some just in case cards.

I don't like to make sympathy cards too complex. I like to keep it clean so the focus is on the message. Off to hop!

Long Time no blog!!

I know it has been so long since my last post. The holidays were a blur and it is almost February..eek. How is it possible that 2010 flew buy and we are already almost 1 full month into 2011. For my first 2011 post I had to play along with all of those fun color challenges going on over at the Moxie Fab blog. I love the bright fun colors - pink, orange, white, black...love it! I also got a new Schlosser Design stamp, Borders and Corners. This card needed a fun bold sentiment to match the bold patterned and pair with the more detailed, whimsical image. I added stitched to add a little focus to the design.

I don't have too much else to say. Just welcoming myself back to blogland. I won't be a stranger. Promise.

Card Redo

Have you ever made a card and you look at it and something is not quite right? Usually I let it go and move on, but I decided to take the same elements that I used on CARD 2 from a previous post and create a better version of that card. I kept the medallian and made an epoxy looking center. I also liked the color combo, the stamping gradient, and the sequence trim so I kept those elements. I made the following changes:

Changed the medallion from cardstock to patterned paper. It was much easier to fold since the paper was thinner. I also did not scallop the edge this time.
I added a curry large scallop border and then added the sequence trim on top of the scallops. I did not add a second strip of trim.

These were only a few changes, but it really made the card look different, and I card I liked a lot more.

O' Christmas Tag

I love Christmas Tags! When I get in the Christmas mojo slump and I can't even craft I card, I turn to my good ole friend the tag. They are smaller, quick, easy and can be as simple or detailed as I want them to be. For some reason I do a lot less thinking when it comes to making a tag than I do when crafting a card. Anyways...I thought I would post a couple of tags that I made over Marisa's.

For the snowman tag. I started out with the new JilliBean Soup Kraft paper and added 2 strips of lacey ribbon. I picked up a while ago from Micheal's. I then added a Martha Stewart Doily. The center of the doily was created using the Schlosser Designs Circle-A-Thon stamp. I stamped the image in white on red cardstock and added some glittery yellow bling to make a pointsetta center and mounted that on green stamped with a circle outline for the Circle-A-Thon set, and then added both to Brown to make it pop off the doily.

For the red polka dot tag, I used up some American Crafts Details that I received 2-3 years ago for free. It was one of those buy a certain number of thickers and get a mini-detail pack for free. You know that I love my thickers and I love free, so I ended up with 4 packs of these suckers. I finally used up some of them. This was a quick and easy tag. I mounted the AC embelishment to scalloped cardstock, adhered that to a Martha Stewart Doily and attached it all to a hand cut tag. Super easy and I love how it turned out.

I know...I lot of explaination for 2 tags - ah I have wordy days every now and again.

Felt Merry & Bright

I had a crafting weekend over at Marisa's last weekend and I just had to use here tree die cut from PTI using my spring green felt from Felt on the Fly. I love using dies to cut felt to make my own embellishments and I also thought it would be fun to play along with the Die Cut challenge going on over at the Caardvards blog. I strung silver rope through the die cut, felt tree and added a few buttons before adhering it to some stitched Crate Paper paper mounted on Early Espresso paper (my new fav color). To finish it off by adding the image to a debossed, wood grain background.

Diggin on Damask Joy

I just had to participate in the Diggin' on Damask challenge going on over at the Moxie Fab Blog! I started by stamping Christmas text on white paper and then stamped over the text with red damask. I mounted the stamped background on my fav color, Cool Caribbean, to really make it pop; added a fun, glimmery bow; and added some red glitter thickers. I love the color combo. It has a vibrant, yet traditional green and red color combo with the Caribbean to really make it pop.

For tonight's hop I used Circle-A-Thon to create a 2011 Calendar. I printed a 4 x 6 inch calendar that I purchased in support of Charley's Fund on white cardstock. I stamped down the side of each month using the same 3 circle pattern with different images and colors. I think I used all the stamps except the sentiments. I added bling to every other page to prevent a little bit of the bulkiness. You could leave it off all together if you want to really crank them out. All you need to do is give the page a little tug at the start of the next month to remove the page, since I snipped the top of each of the holes that attach the calendar to the base. You can even reuse the base next year, since nothing is adhered to it! Got to love recycle-ability! The rest is pretty self explanatory.

Circle-A-Thon

If you follow my blog you know my obsession with Hexagon-A-Thon. Erin at Schlosser Designs is furthering feeding my obsession by release a new A-Thon set with circles. Although I wasn't feeling well I had to play with this new set that is being released on November 3rd. I made 2 cards. For card one I weave Washi Tapes to make a grid/plaid background. I added a bow and the circle is the new set. It is acutally 3 stamps...I love all the layering possibilities. The second card I created a gradient background using a leaf image and added some sequence ribbon. The focal point is another layering adventure with Circle-A-Thon. The very center is the circle that coordinates with the leaf image used to make the background. I added 3 layers of Extra Thick Embossing powder to the very center to create my own epoxy embellishment. The photo of the second card didn't turn out very well, since I had to take it at night. Maybe I will have to redo the card photo shoot.

To a Crafty Girl

I made this card for one of my crafty friends. I took one of Hambly Studios new shimmer papers and clear embossed the bird and wing from Schlosser Designs Have a Tweet Day set to make a pattern on top of the shimmery script. I misted the patter with Tatered Angels pink mist and wiped off the embossed bird. I used the shimmery reverse side of the shimmery paper to create an accent bird and stamp the sentiment. This way the entire focus of the card was shimmery. The bird was stamped in Melon Mambo and clear embossed to make him stand out a little and popped up. I stitched the rest of the card to draw the eye into the focal point.

I was planning on posting this sooner but I have been swamped at work and been sick - yuck! I hope to get a little crafting in this weekend, since I am contagious and can't hang with my super cute niece on Halloween (my second fav holiday behind Christmas) :(

Big Thanks

I have been seriously absent from blogland. Every night after work I have been working on this box of thank you cards for my friend Kelly's baby shower that was this weekend. The whale and sentiment are from A Muse, which is there typical style. A little pun to go with a cute image. My friend is also a big fan of the pun, so I know she appreciated these cards.

I stamped the whales on polka dot paper, cut them out, and then popped them up with foam dots - quite a few steps for 30 cards, but it was worth it!

I made the box my measuring the size of the stacks of cards side by side and then scoring to the correct height. I also placed an extra piece in the bottom to stabilize it a little more and made sure to use 120lb cardstock. I decorated the top and added a fun tag using a clothespin.

By now we have been in Croatia for 3 days and hopefully over the jet lag :) I have a few posts scheduled while I am out. One of them is a card I made for my friend Janie's b-day. Sorry Janie although your B-day was in August the card hasn't quite hit the mail box yet. I will get there.

Edit: For some reason this didn't post while I was out. So I am back and had a wonderful time. I will post some photos!

I finally used my balloon set from There She Goes and my cloud die from PTI. This one was a fun card and although it looks simple there was quite a lot to it.

Nook Hexagon-ified

We have now left Croatia and are in Germany (most likely on a train as you read this heading off to some town or another). Before I left I decided my Nook case needed a face lift.

I love my Nook. I love the instant gratification of buying another book at the touch of a button if I change my mind on what I want to read next. I love having a library in a compact location. I really love my Nook. To pay homage to my lovely e-book I decorated the case. I used some glittery embossing powder From AC and the Hexagon-A-Thon set from Schlosser Designs to bling up my plain case. I even used a few in the background in the window.

Sorry about the shadow in the photos, but it was the only way to not get glare in the window on the cover and show off the copper embossing.

A Little Inspiration

Schlosser Designs is sponsoring an Etsy Inpsired Challenge (EIC #106). I saw the peacock feather and I already had my Hexagon-A-Thon set inked up (scroll down to previous post - I know 2 in one night can't believe it either). I pulled the color combo and the centric design of the peacock feather to create this 4.25 x 4.25 inch card. I am going to make this quite. I have to get a few hours of work in before I get a little shut eye. Big day and no work for almost 2 weeks - whoo hooo!!!

This color combo is Concord Grape, Melon Mambo, and Bermuda Bay. I am going to have to use this one more often.

Not Quite Ready for Christmas

...but I can't help but participate in a Moxie Fab challenge: All Wrapped Up. I created a fun tag tonight, the last night I will be in the US before the big trip. I will be in Europe for almost 2 weeks and will definitely be going through crafty withdraw. I will be completely unplugged...no blogging, no blurfing, no commenting. I am sure when I will return I will be fixed to the computer :)

A Little Four of a Kind Love

I am the proud 1/3 owner of the Summer 2010 Exclusive PTI stamp set. This little set stops in for monthly visits with Marisa, Janie, and I. The three of us spent enough combined at the PTI booth at the CHA Supershow to get our hands on this set and last month was my turn to break it in. Don't you just love our restraint :)

I made 3 cards with it and forgot to take a photo of the third one (figures). So here are two of them. My favorite bloom on this set has to be the fuzzy looking one I used in the above cards. I was also very brave and used purple, which I never use aside from Halloween. I also created a new color comob (at least I don't remember seeing it before). I pulled Marigold Morning (Retired SU! color), Spring Moss, Berry Sorbet, and Bermuda Bay together to create one of these cards.

I was scrapbooking with Marisa and Janie and pulled out my fav SD stamp - Hexagon-A-thon and my Studio Calico Joyland kit. I stamped on the kraft added a little cream mist to give the brown a little yellow tint then added my photos frame and Title. To finish the layout off I added a little stitching below the letters and around the entire layout to add a little something extra. Maybe one of these days I will keep my hands off this fabulous set : )

Scallopped Hexagon

I decided to go a different route with one of my new favorite sets. I once again used the Hexagon-A-thon set from Schlosser Designs. I used two of the images from the set to create a kind of scalloped edge. All you craft supply hoards out there will be so proud - the friends acrylic word is from my stash circa 2004. I can't get enough of this set...keep your eyes peeled cuz I made a scrapbook page with this set this weekend.

I decided to go clean and graphic with this card with one of my fav color combos: pink, turquoise, green, white and black. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Mine has been a whirlwind, but so much fun. Crafting with my gals, Marisa and Janie, and dinner with my Mom.

I love hexagons!!! I used the small outline hexagon from the Hexagon-A-thon set from Schlosser Designs to create a honey comb on some Urban Prarie Basic Grey patterned paper. I cut out some hexagons from a different Urban Prarie patterned papers and solid papers, and then I adhered them randomly to break up the patterned paper. I hand wrote a sentiment and added some chipboard bees. That's about all.

Groovy Day

I had a chance to get into the craft room on Sunday and had a bit of mojo goin' on. I knew I wanted to use my Retro Style stamp for the Signs of Peace Challenge over at the Moxie Fab blog. The trick was adding the peace signs. I didn't have any paper or stamps or anything with peace signs on it, so I made my own. I had this brilliant idea to hand draw peace signs and punch the holes with my paper piercer, and then use hand stitch the peace signs in a few different colors of embroidery floss. In my head this didn't sound labor intensive...I know how does that not sound like a lot of work...yeah, it was. Although it was quite a bit of work, I love how it turned out. And I really didn't stray from how the card looked in my head, which is rare. Usually I have this grand idea that changes as I put my idea into action. Does anyone else do that?

If anyone is wondering how I made such perfect circles, I used 2 different size circle punches and created a swiss cheese looking template on a peace of printer paper - get the pun. When in doubt at least it made me laugh :)

Poor Neglected Blog

Oh my poor neglected blog. It has been so long since I have added an entry, but I have been oh so busy. I have been uber swamped at work. I went to CHA and met Cath, Susan Opel, and Maren. I was start struck, since Cath and Susan recognized my name from my card submission, and totally flaked about having my camera. Here is a photo my friend Marisa took withe her phone. I am such a dork!

I finished up my training and ran my second half marathon. It was a rough one, but I will keep on running and will improve my time. I ran (with walking/running the last 2 miles) 13.1 mi in 2hr 28mins. I did sprint in to the finish line pictured below :) I loved seeing Mike and his family at mile 5 and 12. It was very encouraging and I like the cheering.

This is a bit more babbley than a usually post and not too crafty, so I thought I would toss in a card I made from scraps after making this scrapbook page using my Documentary Kit from Studio Calico. duh - I just realized I never posted the scrapbook page, so you get a two-pher. Ha!

Clean and Graphic Hexagon

I just had to play along with the Clean and Graphic Card Style Challenge over at the Moxie Fab Blog. To me a quintessential clean and graphic card is a single layer white card with a linear design. So I went forth with that idea in my head and inked up four of the Hexagons in the Hexagon-A-thon set from Schlosser Designs. I started at the bottom right corner and angled my way up until I liked how it looked.

This is my first card using this set, and I just love it! It is so unique and fun! This is a must have set and can be purchased here. I am off to play with this set some more...I am thinking of making a quilt pattern with the outline stamp.

I love the sketch over at 2 Sketches 4 You (see below). Another Design Team spot is up for grabs to the owner of the winning card. I would love to be on their DT, so I am throwing my hat in the ring again this week! This sketch was super easy to work with, and if I have time this weekend I think I will have to play again. I also couldn't resist submitting this card over at the Moxie Fab blog for the Stretch Your Style Challenge, Fun & Cute.

I made this card by adding some American Crafts rub-ons on white paper and cut them out. I popped them up using foam dimensionals on top of the hillside scene. I stitched around the outside to frame it a little bit. I was going to add a sentiment, but it seemed just right the way it was.

I just had to participate with the Finding Inspiration in a Layout challenge over at the Moxie Fab blog. I think it is a fabulous idea! I loved the background of this scrapbook page (pictured below) with the large blocks of patterned paper, stitching, distressed strips, and ribbon tying everything together. I emulated those techniques and layout in my card above using some Cosmo Cricket Boyfriend paper, ribbon, and chipboard. I added a little extra distress around the two largest block of patterned paper using the PTI tea dye duo inks and used two layers of sloppy stitching for this card. I also used PTI's woodgrain impression plate and the chamomile tea dye ink to bring out the woodgrain a bit more. Other then a little extra texture I really stuck to the base layout of the scrapbook page.

I am also super excited. 1) I had a great run tonight 4 mi with a 10:11 min/mile pace. That is pretty quick for me especially in this humidity and 2) I made the Schlosser Designs DT (announcement here). I think #2 might be part of the reason I ran so well...I am quite over the moon about being on their DT starting in August!!

Here is a fun baby card I made using some American Crafts Letterbox paper and a dollar stamp from Micheal's. I love that bin! This was a quick one for me because I used a sketch from the Go To Sketches magazine. That is one of my fav issue...love the sketches....love the samples in the mag.

The only technique on this card is the paper piecing and the weaving of the ribbon. I used an exacto knife to make the slits and then I wove the ribbon.

Have to make it a quick post. I have to walk the dog and head to bed.

Happy Birthday to Mom

There is a new challenge over at Caardvarks to create a birthday card. I was also inspired by the photo below from the Tuesday Trigger over at the Moxie Fab Blog. I was inspired by the green, pink, blue and yellow color combo in the photo. The photo also reminded me of a country living and homegoods, so I had to use fabric paper with a picket fence, add a little sewing, and use crochet flowers.

Note: I was a day late for the Tuesday Trigger, but I loved the inspiration, so I played along anyway!

Not only did I get to use some of my American Crafts Dear Lizzy fabric paper to make this card. I also added a making memories frame that I had been hoarding surrounded by crocheted flowers, which I am trying desperately not to hoard, and a little thicker action. You other crafting ladies know how hard it is to not hoard these lovely things!

Dude, You Rock

It was my boss's big 5-0 today, so we streamered his office this morning and had a very talented coworker make a cake. It was awesome - it was a Viagra bottle, with undies underneath it, and little blue pills everywhere and a doctor script. I will have to post the photo of the cake tomorrow (so don't forget to check back).

I made the card for his big day using Sketch 173 over at the CPS blog. The papers are all Basic Grey and I added a few stamped touches with the sentiment and some medallions. This should have been a quick card, but I had a dickens of a time getting the paper at the bottom to be equally spaced but not look too, too - well you know - square (for lack of a better word). Not too much left to say. I have to head out and walk the dog and snuggle in bed with a new book. It is my first using my new nook. So far I love it. I am being such a bookwork in 2010 (so proud of myself).

Wow, my vacation really flew - it always does! I meant to post this before I left, but I never got a photo before I left. My dad is a true handy man, a craftsman, and I wanted to make a card that reflected him. I used cherry veneer, nails from my tool box, a little measure tape ribbon, and distressed up some MM fabric letters.

I love the Tuesday Trigger over on the Moxie Fab Blog this week; it is Mapping Color. I love the different thickness of the striped fabric and how the stripes of the strips of fabric next to each other don't line up. I mimicked the look by cutting different widths striped paper from Joy Ride by Cosmo Cricket. I love this collection and what was even more fun it was free. I won it from the Three Cheers for Chairs Challenge (Thanks, Cath!). The lamp shade was paper pieced using a bit of polka dot that was a swatch on the packaging, since it was just the right size.

I combined two inspirations together by using this sketch from 2 Sketches for you. I will be off the grid for a few day on vaca, but I will schedule a post or two. I can't wait for a little R&R! Have a great week/weekend.

A Muse is having a Taking off Some Layers!!! challenge over in their lounge, and of course I had to participate. This was a challenge, only one layer, even my CAS cards have a little something popped up. I used the same small blue gingham print on this card as the prego cards in the previous post. I embossed the Bursting Blooms in White. The sentiment was one long sentence, so I used a marker to ink up half of the image at a time. This way the sentiment was 2 lines and would fit on my odd sized card (5.5 x 3.25 inches). This was a quick and easy card - maybe 5 minutes! I love how it turned out.

A Couple Prego Cards

I know a few gals that are preggers, so I thought I would make a few quick and easy congrats on your pregancy cards. One is for a gal (the pink one of course) and the other is for a couple. I added a little blingy button to the pink one, since I could go a little girly!

These were quick and easy, and I figured out a fun way to use the fillable frames stamp from PTI. The happy pregnancy stamp was a purchase from the Michael's dollar bin.

Thats about it for tonight. I am off to clean and purge the craft room - serenity now!!! It is a pit.

Sketch Girls Challenge #19

Not only is a nice, long weekend this week it is all time for another Sketch Girl Challenge. This month's challenge is sponsored by Sew Many Cards. I created this card by printing Miki from Sew Many Cards on some yellow polka dot paper. I colored him in over the polka dots. I figured that since Copics tend to almost take on an opaque appearance on Kraft they would probably do the same thing on a light polka dot paper. I was right and am quite proud of myself for thinking of this one. I distressed everything with some ranger ink and mounted Miki the Monkey on felt purchased from Felt on the Fly that was cut with a nestability die.

Here is SG19. I used a circle instead of the square and stamped the strip down the center. Always remember that a sketch is to be used to inspire your card layout, and if you want to use an oval, circle, octagon, or any other shape for the matter it is okay. You can also rotate the sketch (even at an angle). Have fun with it!

Nerdy Idea Book

I created this fun idea book by gluing down a few pieces of patterned paper from the Nerdy Bird collection to the outside and inside of chipboard pieces. I inked the edges with white ink and created the title using a Nerdy Bird sticker and Quickutz dies. The chipboard and papers on the inside are bound with a single ring. I decided to embellish the book with a string of buttons and some ribbon on the binder ring. This is a great place to jot down my creative ideas, since the book is portable (approximate measurements are 3.5 x 5 inches). This was a very quick and easy project - I just love the fun and whimsy-ness of this paperline from Sassafras Lass. Yeah, I made up my own word. I can't help it, it just fit :)

...Really, has it been that long? I have been so busy I have had not had time to post. The funny part is that I have plenty to post, I just haven't had the time. Wow time really gets away from me sometime. Here is a card I made for my Mom for Mother's Day. It didn't feel like using a mother's day sentiment, but more of just have a beautiful day sentiment. The stamps are from a set from There She Goes, and the card is based off of a sketch in Go To Sketches Magazine. I made a quick card for the Moxie Fab World's Three Cheers for Chairs Challenge this weekend. I just made the post with a few hours to spare :)

I decided to go bold with this one by stamping the rocking chair in a fun bright colors, paired it with a pun (you know how I am about puns), and stitched Cosmo Cricket paper.

I created this card using Chem 101 (The image is from Chemistry)! I love those sentiments - being the science dork that I am they make me giggle every time I read them. This set also allows me to get more mileage out of the Chemistry set, which is full of lovey sentiments (which I love but can't use for everyone). There is not too much techniquey going on here. I masked the stand to add the flask and created the background of the card by punching a bunch of 2" circles and attaching them to Kraft cardstock.

Celebrate 13.1

I completed my first half marathon on Saturday. I wasn't feeling well, but I didn't train for 10 weeks and pay for the half and not go. I went a little slower and watched my heart rate. When all was said and done my official time was 2:30:01, which was my sick goal. My next goal will be to finish closer to 2hr. Here is a photo of me pushing my way to the finish line:

Celebrate Bling

I finally busted into my My Cute Stamps set, Celebrate Chandelier. I embossed the chandelier in white embossing powder on some Just Chillin' paper from Making Memories. I added bling to really make the chandelier sparkle, and to create a hanging effect I punched two holes aaround the top chain of the chandelier and tied a black ribbon and dangled the celebrate tag.

This was the perfect card for a friend, who is super fabulous and stylish. The stamp set really made this card, and you will definitely be seeing this set on the blog again.

Calvin - SG16

This super cute image is from the Character Cafe - check out there store HERE. If you want to pick up Calvin go HERE. He is a digi image and there are 4 of him in the set (one is not enough). I decided he looked like a Springer Spaniel, so that is how I colored him. I popped him up and then popped up his little buddy with some foam dimensionals. I can't say enough about this beautiful set (I am swooning over it) and printed up 2 sheets of him. He was easy to color and love how he turned out. - his nose even has a little pink in it!

I do have to give my self a woot, since I used some old gingham and a bone paperclip I picked up at least 3 years ago - and I used it! I have never used the paperclips, not because I was hoarding but I forgot I had it. The gingham I haven't used in a few years, mostly because I no longer love it.

Here is the sketch - I took liberties with the center panel by using 2 horizontal sections rather than 2 vertical sections. I created this by stamping and sponging on white cardstock to create a living room for Calvin and his best buddy to lay on. The circles are the dot spot and with a little extra pop with the paper clip embellishment.

April was a busy man birthday month, so here is another manly card. I made the background by stamping the margarita from A Muse. I did minimal coloring to the margaritas using a few YG copics and a white marker that was almost out of juice, which gave the margaritas a foggy appearance rather than being too opaque. I had drew the circle and sentiment. This is clean and simple, yet a fun way to celebrate the year that it is legal to drink.

Sorry I have been an absent blogger. Life has gotten in the way. I have been keeping up with the running and with Easter this last weekend. Any who......

Here is my Technique-y card. I needed to make a b-day card for my boyfriend's uncle so I decided to keep with the man colors and go techniquey. It is not really masculine, but it is not feminine either. I figured to go with a technique, since he won't be the one keeping the card...his stampin' wife will. I started out by stamping the text background in peeled paint. I embossed the leaf images over the text using clear embossing powder. Then I rubbed peeled paint, broken china, and shabby shutters distress ink over the entire image and spritzed the entire image with a little water. That is about all on this card.

Hoppy Easter - SG15

We have another sketch up today over at the Sketch Girl blog and this is what I created. I used the lovely rabbit - very artistically drawn and download-able HERE at Phindy's Place, who is the sponsor for this SG15. I resized the image and printed him on Neenah paper, colored him, masked the image, and sponged the blue and green background. I created the mask by printing the image on thin printer paper and sticking it down with removable dotto; after the sponging was complete I removed the mask. I took a little liberty on the sketch and made the strips straight, fitting tightly together, and extending to the end of the card. Once the card was put together I thought the tail needed a little fluff, so I glued on a little flocking powder from Doodlebug.

A Page and a Woot or 2!

The woots first, because I am so excited!!!!!

I ran 5 miles today -- yeah! I am working my way to 13mi on May 1. This is a milestone for me, since I haven't run that far since middle school. YIKES.

Now on to the Scrapbook page. I know, I can't believe it either -- I finished a scrapbook page. It has been a while...sometime last year (who knows when though). I made this page during the Scrapbooking weekend with Marisa and Janie. I love this page because I used my Studio Calico kit and an old Heidi Swapp mask I had to have but never used. Plus, I have been collecting mists and have used them once. I need to justify future color purchases : )

A Little Birdie Told Me

Just a quick post today to share with you a card I created using one of my favorite color combos. I love the Berry, Lemon, and Green together! This was a pretty quick card to put together. To create the main image all I did was stitch the circle (slowly to make sure I didn't far too stray out of the circle layers), add the bird transparency (I did add the eye), and doodled around the circle to make it stand out. This looks better IRL, but you will just have to trust me.

I thought this would be a great card for anything. A little birdie told me....

It is the end of the month and another challenge is up at the sketch girls blog. I loved this sketch, you can swap in so many different patterned papers and place embellies or stamps anywhere on the card. It can be complex or simple. This may be one of my new go to layouts!!! I used the really cool frog prince and sentiment digistamps from Wild Flower Kids and can be bought HERE. It was so cathartic to color this frog image, especially after a rough week at work (hence my blogging absence). See close-up below (notice the fun spica glitter on him).

I was gone craftin' with the gals this weekend, so I left this card for Mike in his office to find while I was gone. This card is lovey, but funny...just my type. Dear Friend

I made this card last month when I was with Marisa and Janie. I looked over and saw this super cute card Janie made. HERE is Janie's card that I used for inspiration.

I color and cut out this cute little dear, cut out the stamped sentiment, and then pop them up with some dimensionals. I left a lot of white space or in this case green space and outlined the green with marker. The background checker is a piece of paper from my scrap stash that I stamped at some point in the last year and never used, until now. I didn't even have to cut it down. I mounted in on pale pink and then on the white.

Paint By Number Challenge

It is PTI's 3 year anniversary, and there is a lot going on over at their blog. One of their challenges is a paint by number sketch. Since I am not very creative when it comes to screen names, my PTI forum name is Tiffany Heilman. Since my forum name starts with a "T" I had to use the blue series color combo with the posted sketch. More details on the challenge are HERE

This was surprisingly difficult. You would think it would be easy, since I was given a layout and a color combo. It was difficult to fit all the colors in, especially the aqua mist. It had a little too much green in the color to blend easily. In the end I added buttons and really liked how the card turned out.

A Brief Note

This is shockingly my second post for today, so don't forget to scroll down. I have so many cards to share because I just had a creative day with Katie, plus I still have cards to share from my creative weekend with Janie and Marisa, and there are so many excellent challenges going on. I create this card using 2 stamps I bought this summer while I was in Seattle and hadn't inked yet. Yes, I visited the A Muse store. It was fabulous...so fabulous I included a couple photos of the shop. They were very friendly and helpful, and next time I am there I will definitely stop at the shop. I made the brief note card for the color challenge going on in the A Muse Lounge by using Papaya, Sky Blue, and Orange Crush.

I know it has been a while, but I am back in blog-land. A new sketch was posted over on the sketch girl blog on the 15th and it was a challenge, but I love how my card turned out. I made this card yesterday over Katie's and used her sewing machine. That sucker is just fabulous...works through all of those lovely layers like butta. Katie is lucky her sewing machine was too big to sneak out!! I used a cluster of fussy cut flowers for one circle and my ladies for the other circle. Where Did My Time Go?

This week has been a blur. I have been in early and staying late all week at work, went to Virginia on a business trip on Wed and returned late on Friday, baby shower on Saturday, and my dad's b-day dinner today....phew....I am dog tired! Needless to say there has not been too much time for creating. I will have my sketch girl creation posted tomorrow evening so check back. Until then here is my dad's b-day card and the baby shower card. Both of the main images are embossed on craft. I inked the edges with Snow White ink for both cards and colored the deer by sponging the image with ink. I also made the bitty box paper less symmetric by stamping the patterned paper with a wood grain stamp. Have a good night!

I used one of my new SU! Cling stamps to create this card. I paired red, caribbean, and brown together to create the layered heart card this past weekend. The card came together pretty quickly, especially since all of the popped up hearts were done with a punch. if there is a punch that will fit a stamp set I want or have, I need to get the punch. It is so much easier to punch out a stamped image, than cut it out. This card was made for the Red Heart Challenge over at the Hero Arts blog.

Iguana Hug U

It was a stamping weekend with the gals, Marisa and Janie, and this means there should be a lot of eye candy on the blog for the next few weeks. A stamping weekend isn't complete without a stop at a LSS or Archivers, which is were I found this lovely set. Of course I had to have this set because there are puns involved...you know me! I definitely will have to make a few more v-day cards with this set. I broke in this set by making this card for the Start to Finish Challenge over at Moxie Fab blog. The outside says "Iguana squeeze you and hug you" and the inside says "on Valentine's day". I also added a few hearts to the inside. I decided to go with the circle motif. I used a circle folder from Quickutz to emboss the white cardstock then added images in outlined circles.

Sketch Girls Challenge #10

It is the 15th and a new sketch is up at the Sketch Girl blog. I used the sketch below and the Able Gable template from Perfect Presentation to create this fun box that is begging for cookies or I could put in the cupcake inserts (oh yes this is part of the template; so cool!)...the thoughts of sweets are just zipping around in my head. yummm!!! You can't tell that I am back on the healthy bandwagon?!? I just love sweets and it is so hard to give them up :( I guess I can eat them in moderation one day out of the week (I love cheater day). It helps me keep with it! Anyway this little box only took 2 sheets of cardstock and with the included assembly instruction it was a breeze to put together. I cut this out by hand, but if I had a Silhouette or Cricut it would have been even quicker, since the template are also available in compatible file types. This template and others are available for purchase here.

This sucker came together so quickly. I used a bow for the circle and the bottom half of Journaling card that can be cut from Teresa Collins paper. Love this collection! I topped it off with the heart, courtesy of my scrapbin. I keep a little bin of scrap including patterned paper scraps, things that have been die cut or stamped, parts of unfinished cards. Thanks PTI for reminding of the forgotten bin! The heart was already stamped and punched last year some time. All I had to do was add some bling and a button and I was done.

Messy Fingers = Fun

Messy also makes a cute card, if I do say so myself! This was a fun card...the messy ones always are. I started out with a mostly white paper with circles by MME, adhered a few butterfly masks by Heidi Swapp and spritz lightly with some Maya Mist. Then, I proceeded to mostly cover up the butterflies by layering some American Crafts crafts goodness with some MM stickers and stitching. After I adhered everything I took sandpaper to distress all of the additions to make them blend better with the misted background. I usually have a rough time with the collagey look, but this came together so easily. I am quite proud of myself : ) I am also excited to say, I used stuff from my scrap pile; the circle and scallop were from my scrap pile circa April 09. Thank you to Nicole at PTI for the inspiration for using scraps! Here is a close up of the collagey goodness.

My boyfriend's oldest sister is having a shower at the end of the month, so I designed this card. It is clean and simple, which is perfect when you are making about 30 of them. Last night Mike's youngest sister, mom and I got together to make shower invitations and it took no time at all! I was also super excited that I used some of my old retired SU! paper that had been sitting around for a couple years. In fact all of the colors used on this card are retired.

An A Muse Christmas & a Toot

If you know me, you know I love puns. Once I saw the Peace and Cheer set I knew I had to create something with the bird and Season's Tweeting sentiment. I colored the little birdie with Copics and added some Flower Soft on the branch and his hat.

Before I complete the one word questionaire I thought I say I am sorry for being away. Sometimes life gets busy. I created some fun Christmas cards with Marisa and Janie prior to Thanksgiving and will start to post those tomorrow. The last two weeks have flown by. I have been working my tail off. The work that I am speaking of is unfortunately that job that pay the bills! This is the first time I have gone into the craft room in weeks and I hope this is the sketch that brings back the mojo and gets me out of the crafty slump. If this doesn't work a weekend with the Marisa and Janie sure will. This is what I came up with the the 9th sketch at Sketch Girls. I can't believe there have been 9 sketches already! Sleigh bells ring, are you listenin'? I just love Christmas. I think more than I love Halloween. As soon as Thanksgiving is over I go straight into Christmas mode. I love that time of year. Rather than adding floss or twine to the buttons I covered the holes with some black bling. It has been another long day, so this is a short post.

Tall Order #2

This is the second card I created for the Caardvarks Tall Order Challenge. This card is 4x8 inches and of course has my new love, ruffles. This time the pleat of the ribbon exposed both colors of the satin ribbon. This card also fits the Halloween Challenge over at the Stamp Something Blog. As stated in previous posts, this is Holiday Overload on the blog this week. But, hey at least I have plenty to post this week. There may be a little Holiday Overload next week. I was a busy gal with Marisa and Janie last weekend, so there is plenty to post.

Ruffled Christmas

I just can't keep away from those ruffles. It's like Pringles, once you pop you can't stop. I created the ruffles on this card by laying down a strip of monoadhesive (my adhesive of choice) and pinched the top as I moved along. To make sure it stayed in place I stitched the top and then added a bow with polka dot ribbon to cover the stitches. I used more of the felt embellies from Making Memories and used a strip of the masking tape from the same collection, Falala. This first card is also a long card, which is the challenge at the Caardvark's blog.

I made the ruffle this time by stitching down by layering the ribbon like a wave and stitching it down.

Halloween Bling

I created another Halloween card. I know, I can't get enough of this season. I added a little bling in the corner and a lot of bling on the background. I cut down black crystal swirls from a Prima Flourish and added to the background. I think it makes the card spooky sparkly. I created this card for the Bling It Challenge over at the Stamp Something Blog.

My First 2009 Christmas Card

I am a Get Sketchy virgin...Well, not anymore! When I saw this sketch I immediately thought gate-fold card, and that is what I did. I created the background using the FaLaLa paper from MM and some rick rack from a Halloween ribbon pack. I then created the center with a fun felt embellishment and paper from Making Memories. Just a warning I will be mixing Christmas and Halloween for the next few weeks. It might be a little holiday overload! It kinda reminds of walking into Michael's in September...Halloween and Christmas decor in aisles right next to eachother ;-)

Ruffled Halloween

I made this card for the Moxie Fab World Ruffled Challenge. This was so fun! I ruffled paper and satin ribbon then sewed it down. I also crumpled, distressed and added a little hardware. This is just one of many Halloween and Christmas cards that I created while stamping with Janie and Marisa. It is great spending time with them, and it is fun to just sit and create.

Sketch Girls Challenge #7

Its that time again, a new sketch is up at Sketch Girl! This sketch is super fabulous and was surprisingly easy to work with. When I first looked at it I was like "how can I make this work?", but then I sat down and it came together so quickly. I went kitchy, aged with this card by inking the edges using scattered straw, a yellow colored ranger ink. I love how this card turned out; it is full of Cosmo Cricket goodness with a splash of Basic Grey and Sassafras. This card also works with the 365 cards - Same, but Different challenge here. The challenge was to use two different colors of the same patterned paper. I had a great time with this sketch and I hope you do too!

I created a second card for the Moxie Fab World Gradient is Radient Challeng. This time I wanted a clean and simple card so I stamped the owl that I got from the Michael's $1 Bin in 3 shades of purple and then orange. I added a little bling to the orange owl to make him stand out a little more. To make the owls pop a little more I drew a rectangle around those fun owls. Since I didn't have a stamp I hand wrote the sentiment. That always works in a pinch.

Can't you tell I just love Halloween. Don't worry I will stop making and posting Halloween cards by the end of this month : )

Radiant Gradient - Spooky Style

The Moxie Fab Gradient is Radient Challenge ends on Monday and I wanted to get a few cards in. This also fits the Caardvarks Take a Bow Challenge. This was a technique heavy but super fun card. I created the background using distress inks on white cardstock by blending them together with the Ranger Ink blending tool. I then inked up a Cuttlebug embossing folder with black ink using a brayer and ran my gradient background through my Epic. After the ink dried, I added "Boo to You" in white embossing powder. To finish off the card I mounted it on black cardstock, added some bling, and a fabulous bow. To spookify the elegant bow I cut out a scull and added it as the centerpiece.

Have a Spook-tacular WCMD

Today is world card making day. I am starting off making a few day cards in the craft room and hop through this list of blogs either today or tommorrow. It is my boyfriend's b-day and we are going to go out for a b-day breakfast and then to celebrate with his family.

I thought that I would celebrate WCMD by celebrating my favorite holiday, Halloween! Here are 3 cards I made by fussy cutting rectangles and images from one sheet of Pink Paisley and paired it with Basic Grey patterned paper. I spook-ified them by distressing with black soot, added some fun lace, mongo rick-rack, buttons and bling I had on hand! I only stamped on one of the cards (I know shocker, but I love it). The ghost is from a fun set I got from SU! that I stamped directly on the patterned paper and colored with Copics. I got that fun idea from my friend Randee's post here. I think the bat one is my fav or maybe the card...it is so hard to decide!

A Little Halloweeny!

I got a little fun time in on Friday with my friend, Katieand made a few Halloween card. Halloween is one of my favorite seasons! I love the spooky yet cute feel to these card. I got the spooky by distressing all of the edges and stamping directly on the patterned paper. Cute was the easy part, since it is all due to these adorable stamps with a fun pun.

A Cup of Happy

I have been so busy lately. Getting caught up at working, getting sick, and having a B-day. On Friday I saw 500 Days of Summer, a must see! Then on the weekend I went with Janie and Marisa to a White Sox game. Go, go White Sox! You have to see this video below (Marisa is a turncoat...and she calls herself a Royals Fan). Just kindin', love ya! This video makes me giggle everytime I watch it. Janie is the camera operator/interviewer, Marisa is being interviewed, and I am in the background giggling (every now and again you can see the side of my face in the camera). Such a busy month, but fun! Thought I would let you know where I was.

I just finished halfway putting together a Halloween card. I am almost done, but I needed to step away. I will post that later. Here is a card I made for my friend, Joan, on her b-day. I used some goodies from Crate Paper and my new Unity stamp set. It is so versatile and I can't wait to use the pie! I stamped the cup on kraft and then colored it in with copics to create an earth tone feel.

Happy Monday....okay as happy as the beginning of a work week can be.

Sketch Girls Challenge #5

It is that time again...for another Sketch Girl challenge. For this challenge I created this fun Bot card. You know how I love puns, so I had to use another one. I picked up 3 robots with sentiments at the Scrapbook Expo in St. Charles this past August. I giggled when I bought them, and the sentiments still make me laugh. The sentiment is normally straight, but I curved it when I placed it on the block to curve around the edge of the circle. I mounted the Bot on Tangerine cardstock that was cut in a circle and then cut out notches to make a gear. The other gear is chipboard that I painted orange.
